Photo Credit: Juju Films  Ebonyi Suffers Attacks From Suspected Fulani Herdsmen

On Sunday, the 3rd of February 2025, the people of Amegu village, Nkalaha community in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, were attacked by suspected herdsmen, killing several people and setting houses ablaze.

According to reports, the attack was a reprisal attack by suspected herdsmen whose cattle were killed by people of the community.

An eyewitness who goes by the name Metro ascertained that the proprietors stormed the village in the dead hours of the night and unleashed the violence that caused the death of many and the destruction of properties worth billions.

Another person explained that the members of the community were innocent and did not kill the herdsman's cattle; instead, it was done by the Eastern Security Network in the forest.

This incident has been confirmed by the chairperson of Isheilu Local Government Area, Mrs Ifeoma Peace Agwu, while the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Joshua Ukwndu, has said that he was not aware of the incident.
